During my childhood days my parents' friends dropped by regularly, especially on Sunday afternoons in the summertime. Shortly after their arrival a fresh pot of tea was steeped and then poured into bone china cups. A cup of tea was usually accompanied with an array of freshly baked goodies such as tea biscuits with butter and jam, slices of sweet quick breads and assorted cookies. One of my favourite cookies were the little shortbread hearts made using my grandmother's recipe.
