The garden in September has such colourful blooms. On a warm, fall afternoon I sat in the garden and sketched nine floral beauties which became the basis for this silk wall hanging: Cosmos, rudbeckia, aster, begonia, sunflower, lavatera, gladiolus (two types - pink gladiolus and white Abyssinian gladiolus) and phlox. First, I transferred my drawings to a piece of white silk by hand using a clear glue-like resist. Then I used small brushes and a watercolour technique to paint the flowers and the background.
